Not such a Happy Year for the real Tiger
...but we can still change that
Gong Xi Fa Cai, and Gung Hay Fat Choy!! That's Mandarin and Cantonese respectively, for Happy New Year! The Year of the Metal Tiger has begun. Let us hope that the real Tiger, flesh and blood and tooth and claw, survives at least until the next Year of the Tiger in 2022. The news from India - home to one third of the last wild tigers - is still not good. Let us pledge to redouble the fight to save the magnificent tiger. How poor our world would be without it, and how shameful the legacy of our generation will be, if we fail to save it and our children only see it caged, the fire in its eyes long dimmed.
