How you can help

HOME

1.
You can do something for wildlife TODAY by declining the use of a plastic bag.

More than 8,000 people visit this site every day, if each declines one plastic bag a week that's 416,000 plastic bags less thrown away every year!

The next time you visit a wildlife reserve, pick up any plastic garbage you see and take it out with you.

Do NOT throw plastic bags, styrofom, cans, bottles etc into rivers or in wilderness areas! Every little bit helps! EVERY MOVE CAN BECOME A MOVEMENT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE JOIN IN!!

2.
You can support organisations such as the Wildlife Protection Society of India, Wildlife First!, The Corbett Foundation, Wildlife Trust of India, the Bombay Natural History Society, and World Wide Fund for Nature - India, Friends of the Doon Society.

3.
You can REPORT any illegal activity you see or hear of in protected wilderness areas to the proper authorities, or even to this site. If you see pollution, urban encroachments, poaching, timber smuggling, corruption and diversion of forest land for non-wildlife/forest purposes including roads, industry, hotels, temples, mining and so forth, MAKE A FUSS!

4.
You can EDUCATE people you meet in wilderness areas about the need to NOT throw garbage in the area, the need to NOT play loud music and make a racket, and the need to NOT smoke cigarettes in fire-risk areas. Don't be embarrassed, SPEAK and make your opinion heard.

5.
You can give forest/wildlife protection staff moral support and encouragement, and NOT take up staff or managers' time with requests for assistance or special privileges. India is already full of VIPs on the make for special privileges, don't join their ugly ranks!

6.
You can DONATE equipment like clothes, boots, spotlights, field equipment etc direct to protection staff on the ground, through this site or better still, through any of the NGOs mentioned on this page, at the same notifying this site so that everybody knows what and who the donation is for and will make sure it reaches the people it is meant for.

7.
You can TEACH CHILDREN that raw nature is not dangerous and hazardous, but is the basis of our life itself. Teach them to CONSERVE WATER AND ELECTRICITY. Teach them by example to RESPECT ALL LIVING THINGS including plants and trees and insects, and to RESPECT OUR ENVIRONMENT ... our rivers and seas, mountains and forests.
